CrystalBall Lite Loot FAQ
The loot tracker tracks a party's loot by logging all the party's earnings. Characters can claim the items they want. When everyone is ready and the preview values are acceptable the loot can be split. A party fund can receive a share and everyone is guaranteed to get an equal portion. The loot tracker even keeps a history of past splits and who should have what items and total earned money amounts in case there are any questions.
The four main parts of Loot tracking are first entering the loot items and assigning items to characters, second setting up the variables and splitting the loot, third reviewing the histories of past splits, and fourth viewing split reports showing the results of the split.
Entering Loot:

- Items to Sell:
These are the items found during adventuring. Characters can claim these items and unclaimed items will be sold when splitting. Each item has the following fields:- Name: The name of the item
- Price: How much this item can be bought for
- Quantity: How many of this item are to be sold
- Sell at full price: If checked, the item sells for 100% no matter what the sell percent is for the split
- Description: Any sort of notes or description about the item
- Taken By: The character that has claimed this item
- Party Members
These are the people in the party that will get a split of the loot. Click the plus button to add a new party member. Double click a party member to edit their values. A party member has the following fields:- Name: The name of the party member
- Money: How much money the character currently has. This has no effect on the results of splitting
- Gets Share: If not checked, this party member will not get any portion of the split and their name will appear red in the list. The "Party Fund" party member defaults to not getting a share but will instead get the "Party Share" amount specified in the variables
- Notes: Any notes for bookkeeping
- Items: These are the items owned by the character. When splitting, items taken by the character are added to this list. Items on this list have no effect on the results of a split
- Notes: Notes can be entered for bookkeeping and reminders
Splitting:

Splitting sells all unclaimed items, divvies out claimed items, determines how much is given to the party fund, gives everyone an equal share, and creates a history of the split. The History section explains in more detail how the loot is split. The following are the variables that effect the values of the split.
- Monetary Unit: This is the unit of base measurement for the loot items. For a fantasy adventure this is commonly gold pieces so the default for a loot is 'gp'. This means that an item value of 14.38 would be 1 platinum, 4 gold, 3 silver, and 8 copper.
- Party Share: This is the amount that will be taken from the total sold amount for the party. This party fund can then be used to buy healing implements, scrolls, ammo, bags, henchmen, rent or any other party needed things. This way no one player is required to spend their share on things that are to be used by everyone. This can be a straight amount (100.50) or a percent amount (15%).
- Sell Percent: This is the percent at which items sell. Some systems state items sell for 50%, others may say 20%. This can be set to any value and effects the selling of all items except for items that are marked as "Sell at full price".
- Party: This is the total amount of the split that the party share will recieve. If the party has taken items, the money gained by the party fund will be reduced by the sell amounts of the items taken.
- Per Player: This is how much each player will gain from the split. If a player claims an item, then the money they gain from the split will be this per player amount minus the sell values of the items taken.
- Leftover: This is how much after splitting that is not split evenly among everyone. This amount will be entered as an item for the next split after this split is finished.
- Split button: Clicking this button will divvy out claimed items and add the split amounts to the party members money totals. It is strongly suggested to save before splitting so that the loot can be closed without saving if there is a result that is not wanted.
If there are any problems with the split like amounts being less than zero or things that won't allow the loot to be split, error messages will be shown and the loot will not be split. If the loot does split successfully a history item will be added and a report will be produced.
History:

Clicking the "Show History" button pops up a menu of the histories. Click a history on the menu to open the detail of that split. The detail shows the variables used for the split. The party members list shows all the party members who were part of the split. The Money column shows how much that party member received. The Total Taken column is money taken plus sell value of items taken. Clicking on a Party Member loads the Items Taken list with the items taken by the selected party member.
Clicking the Show Report button will rerun the split report. See the Reports section for information about the split report.
Reports:

A split report shows who took what items, how much money each party member recived, and can be used to verify that everyone got a fair share.
- Items Taken shows a list of who took which items and how much they are worth.
- Items Sold lists the items sold and their selling price.
- Money Earned details how much money each party member received including how much the party fund received. This amount does not include how much was taken in items.
- Totals lists values that can be used to verify everything calculated correctly:
- Sell Percent: This is the rate that items sell for. Taken items reduce a player's share by the item's price times this ratio. So if an item has a buying price of $100 and the sell percent is at 20% then the item would sell for $20. If someone took this item, their money share would be reduced by $20. If noone took the item, the amount of money available to share among the party members would be increased by $20.
- Total All Value: How much all the items would cost if they were bought from the store. This is the total of all the prices of the items without applying the sell percent.
- Total All Sell: How much all the items would sell for no matter who has claim on the items. Some items are flagged as selling at full price otherwise this amount would be Total All Value * Sell Percent.
- Total Sold: This is the total sell value of all the items not claimed. This is how much money is available to split among the party members. All the money earned values for party members equals the Total Sold + Left Over
- Party Share: This is how much the party fund took from the split. Party share equals the total sell value of the items taken by the party + how much money the party share took.
- Per Player: This is how much each player is alloted from the split. Each party member receives this amount first in the sell value of the items taken and then in money. Player Money Earned + Player Items Taken Sell Values = Per Player amount
- Left Over: This is how much of the split did not divide equally among the players. This amount is added as an item to the next loot split.
There are several ways to validate the values of the split. Here are three formulas that can help verify that everyone got a fair share.
- "Per Player" * "# of Players" + "Party Share" + "Left Over" = "Total All Sell"
- "Total All Money Earned" + "Total All Items Taken Sell Value" + "Left Over" = "Total All Sell"
- "Total Sell Value Of All Items Sold" + "Total Sell Value Of All Items Taken" = "Total All Sell"
- Items are given to players that have taken them
- Totals for selling and worth are calculated
- The party portion is calculated and taken from the available splitting amount taking in to account items taken by the party
- The per player amount is calculated from the remaining amount
- Players are given their per player share minus the sell value of any items taken
