Troubleshooting
If you're having problems with Share, please browse the list below and see if it answers any of your problems. If not, take a look through the help topics. More information about Share is listed there.
How do I connect to Share? |
You should be able to connect to your share as long as Share is running. However, you'll need to know your IP address. You can get your IP address by previewing your share in a browser (by clicking on the "Preview" button). Your IP address will be in your browser's address field. Alternatively, you can click on "Copy Share address" in the File menu. It will copy your IP address to you clipboard. You can then paste it into an email, chat window, or browser. |
I can't connect to Share! |
There are a few issues that may cause this problem. If you have turned on OS X's firewall, you'll need to open a hole in the firewall in order to use Share. Information on opening the firewall may be found here. If you are behind a router (especially common for wireless internet access), you also need to configure your router to forward information to your computer. Information on doing this is available here. |
Why am I asked to logged in? or What is the Access pane for? |
Your share includes some very personal information. Your contacts, files, photos, and more will be available to everyone who connects to your share. For this reason, Share requires everyone attempting to connect to log in. You may add users to your share through the Access pane. The Access pane lists all users as well as tracks their status (whether they are logged in and for how long). To add a person to your Access list, just click the "Add" button of the Access pane, enter their name and password, drag a picture onto the image well (optional), and click "Apply". You may also drop contacts from your Address Book onto the Access table. The people in your Access list will be able to log in and browse your share. |
