TaskCard Manual
Cards

TaskCard is based upon the concept of both tasks and cards. Cards are the containers which you insert tasks into and the primary visual element of the application, much like windows in the Finder.

Creating cards.

Closing cards.

Moving cards.

Cards can be moved to other sheets by dragging them onto the sheets image.

Minimizing cards.

If you need to save space on your screen cards can be minimized to smaller size by pressing the minimize button in the upper right-hand corner.

Duplicating cards.

You can duplicate an entire card by choosing the Duplicate Card item in the Edit menu.

Card Images.

Cards can have an optional title or background image to help represent the contents.

Overdue Tasks.

Cards that contain overdue tasks (with a due date older than 1 day) will display a small badge on the bottom on the card or in the title bar if the card is minimized.

Exporting and importing cards.

Cards can be exported as plain text by using the Export... item in the File menu. Task containers are represented by tab indents and attachments are converted to their text equivalent, however images are simply ignored.

To import a plain text file as a card use the Import... item in the File menu. Like during exporting, tab indents are represented as task containers. Please note that exporting/importing can't be used to save and open entire cards as extra task styling and various attachment formats are not preserved.

Duplicating cards.

You can duplicate an entire card by using the Duplicate Card item in the Edit menu.

Emailing cards.

Cards can be exported as new messages in Apple's Mail application by using the Email item in the File menu. The exported card content follows the same rules as explained above in Exporting and importing cards.

Copying cards.

If you need to copy entire cards contents out of TaskCard for use in other programs you can use the Copy Card or Copy Card Image items in the Edit menu.

Printing cards.

Cards can be printed as black and white representations ideal for going places with you or keeping around the desk for taking notes.

To print a card simply choose the Print item in the File menu.

Saving and opening cards.

Normally TaskCard saves cards automatically for you but if you wish to close a card you may want to save it to disk first so it can be re-opened at a later time.

When you open a card (using the Open item in the File menu) the card will be copied into the current sheet giving you an option to delete the file afterwards. Because of this copying behavior it's possible to use saving/opening as templates for commonly used card content.

Dragging cards to other applications.

You can drag cards onto other applications and it will treat them as the "exported" plain text content of the card. For example you can drag cards on Mail to create a new email message or on TextEdit will create a new document from the cards contents.

To drag a card click and hold down on the title for a moment until you hear a sound then drag the card.

Tab anchored to the top of the screen, below the menu bar.

Tabs.

Tabs help you save space by keeping cards anchored to the edge of your screen.

To make a card into a tab simply drag the card so at least 50% is off-screen and an indicator will appear. If you want to change a tab back into a normal card, simply drag the tab away from the edge of the screen.

Tabs by default open one at a time but this can be changed in the preferences.
